2012 Audi A6 leaked images – Click above for high-res image gallery

Despite teasing fans with some none-too-revealing teasers, the German automaker's new 2012 Audi A6 sedan has leaked out thanks to the folks at Autoblog.nl (no relation). You're forgiven if you have to squint a bit to notice the changes, but this is, in fact, a pretty thorough (if conservative) reworking of Audi's middle child.

We're digging the stylish front and rear LED lighting treatments, and the interior predictably appears to be a thing of beauty. We can't yet say for certain what sort of powerplant options Audi will bestow upon the 2012 A6, but the car in these photos has a six-cylinder turbo diesel. Globally, we're counting on a full slate of gasoline and diesel engines along with optional Quattro all-wheel drive, while in the States we're likely to get a couple of petrol engines, a single TDI option and standard AWD.

The whole kit n' kaboodle is slated for an official web unveiling tomorrow, so we should know all the details soon enough. In the meantime, check out the high-res image gallery below and let your voice be heard in the 'Comments.' Thanks to everyone for the tips!

Not bad, the front looks like a A8 and back looks like a A4. But, two thumbs up for that interior.

I like the wood inlays a lot, and there seems to be a lot of 5-series in the profile. The tails protrude from the rear of the car a bit, don't they? Stylish, very European. Altogether, a pretty good-looking car.

I think it's ODD how auto manufactor's like Chrysler and Audi seem to always desire an Auto's front GRILL to always appear the same , it is like they think more of agrill package than an Imblime placed on a glamorous auto's design which WILL give the manufactor more sales pride and glory as well as more sales ! Yet it appears they do not desire such glry's , they just want some grill package some engineer liked 40 years ago more than the auto manufactor's pride on the Imblime to be placed on the auto made ? Interesting .
I have no idea what imblime is, but you want to take a look at the established class leaders, BMW and Mercedes. Notice their grills? Go back 30 years. Notice anything similar?
        Now do you understand?

I love Audi's simple design language...the current gen A6 is a masterful example of understatement and restraint, a truly successful design. The A7 has inherited these traits in my mind, one of Audi's finest works. But I can't seem to appreciate this generation of sedans. The A8 and now the A6 both have awkward, boxy proportions with top heavy tornado lines. The result is two cars with frumpy, overwrought, and decidedly unsporty designs. Too bad Audi couldn't provide an exterior for the new A6 to match it's truly gorgeous and world class interior.

I was really hoping for something a little different but I suppose that was a bit too much to expect. I think it looks good but its so in line with the A4 and the A8 that it doesn't feel like something "new"
Did u pass over the interior shots? Easily the biggest improvement moving the space from a4 cues to a8 will be "new" enough for most.
I do agree that the interior looks great but that doesn't negate the fact that I think it's a shame that the A4/A6/A8 look so strikingly similar. I also realize that this isn't something limited to Audi but I was hoping for something that was a little differentiated, that's all.

@braindead5400 - yeah it's even worse with BMW now. Their anti-bangle design language is a lot more pleasant but its harder to tell the new 5 series from a 3 series than it is to tell this new a6 from an a4. actually, compared to the current bmw lineup, the audi products are drastically different (different 'faces', tails, etc).

      damn!

The exterior design seems fairly conservative - Audi is clearly moving away from the arched rooflines of the previous two generations of A6, I suppose to help differentiate it from the A5 & A7 Sportbacks...
      ...but that interior - Fantastic!
Okay its beautiful but..... it looks the same as the A4 and A8... both beautiful cars in their own right.

And i also agree with autoblog those headlights are amazing.
I think Audi's don't photograph very well... And the very white pale background over silver definitely doesn't do it justice in pictures.

The leaked pictures of the A7 looked very plain but look at the pictures from Autoblog in their review of the A7. It looks fantastic. I won't judge until I see a 3rd party video or i see it with my own eyes. But it looks very promising to be on top of its class once again.
Gruv, no one cares if the headlights are "busy". Give me a break.
I like it except for the tail lights, whose vertical angles near the Audi emblem look odd flaring outward rather than in toward the center IMHO. The front-end looks really nice and the pics confirm that Audi continues to make exceptional interiors.

Does anyone know if the quattro in this A6 will be the crown gear differential-based system first introduced in the RS5?
I like everything but the way the taillights stick out from the profile view. I don't know why it bothers me so much but I HATE lights the protrude from the body of a car and mess up the lines.

Am I the only one who thinks this looks the same as the current model?
