2011 Audi A7 Sportback - Click above for image gallery

Tomorrow afternoon, Audi will formally unveil the new A7 Sportback at a museum in Munich. While that fanfare will go on as scheduled, as is so often the case nowadays, the big reveal has been undercut somewhat as leaked official images have made their way onto the web a day early. Carscoop.com has posted four shots of the A7 Sportback, giving us the first solid looks at the production car's bodywork and interior. As you can see, the five-door A7 remains true to the concept car that made its debut at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show.

Carscoop further reports that the Audi A7 Sportback is a four-seater only, and will be offered with a selection of gas and diesel V6 engines (in European guise, we assume). We'll have full details and more images tomorrow once the car gets unveiled at 2:30 PM Eastern. In the meantime, have a gander at the leaked shots below to whet your appetite. Top tip, Rally!

It looks just like the A8. Oh wait, I mean the A5. No, the A6. Or maybe the Q5. I think it shares with the A1 too. Also the A4. A3?

Its a great design. Sad that its been beaten to death by Audi. They need to differentiate their cars and make them look a little more unique when compared with one another.

This is so gorgeous. Anyone who thinks it looks just like an A4 is blind. Yes, they are undoubtedly from the same company, but the devil is in the details. The deeper creases in the doors, shape of the grille and lights, d pillar, horizontal character of the dash, etc.

I'm not really thrilled with the overall design - I find the A5 Sportback both better proportioned and more cohesive than the A7. I wish we could get it here in the US, but as always, we don't get the sexy quirky hatchy European models...

i love this car and all audis, im not convinced on the a6 or a8 but all the others and this included r beautiful. i have loved audis ever since they first brought out this new grill all those years ago, it's so imposing and yet it is less pompus than the bm or merc (i hate the both) audi's are great cz there understated and yet wen one passees every head turns, the perfect combination. this has got o b my favorate audi so far and will b on my drive asap !!!

Beautifully executed car! The lines flow well, and I love the "buttress" look. I just flew in from Israel last night, and on my last evening there, I spotted what I thought was an A7. It turned out to be just an A5 with 4 doors. I didn't even know they existed! Well done Audi!

The cover photo makes the C-pillar area look like an updated Dodge Charger...

@muttons...It was an A5, I saw the name on the back. It had the front facia of the A5 as well. I stopped and took a look because of it. It was definitely an A5.

And by buttress, I was referring to the sloping line of the D-pillar.

Wait a sec - a friend sent me a photo of this car, on the street in the Czech Republic recently. This is just being revealed?

        ...being active...
        They don't. It's an A4. Same platform I believe.

What exactly are you describing as the "buttress" look? I'm not seeing anything like that on this car. Maybe if the rear glass was inset but it's not.

        @mutton

Yes they do exist... A5 Sportback, look it up.

by the way, anyone noticed the retractable rear wing? i wanna see the side profile with that spoiler being a active!
Much better executed than the 5-series GT. The back looks much better than the Panamera´s as well. Very dynamic for a stock model, can`t wait to see the S and RS models. They should look amazing.

      Great looking sedan.
      Front end is OK,
But the side and rear profile are stunning.

Audi's design team love Apple's pinch and pull tech so much they used it in creating their latest sedans. Design A4 - then pull to desired size 4,6,7,8.
It's what the Panamera should have looked like!
I really want to like it, but the back just doesn't look right somehow...
      Meh..

Audi designs don't excite me anymore... its like I already know what their going to look like.. weird huh ? (sarcasm )

The A5 is the best looknig car in Audi's line up the rest don't really do anything for me...even the new VW are looking like Audis..
@miketim1...I would definitely have to agree with you about your comparison to VW. I do agree that VW is beginning to look a lot like Audi's. Prime example: The 2011 Jetta. It looks exactly like an A4. While I do admire the light shows, (LED's) I do agree that their designs are becoming a bit redundant. However, I do love the profile of the A7. It's not as ugh as BMW's GT.
They do??? I've never had trouble telling any VW from any other car, BMW, AUDI, or otherwise. An A4 has always looked like an A4 and anyone who thinks differently is downright blind.
Disagree big time. This design is flawless. They've even managed to make the grill look proper and an integral part of the design rather than a hole in its face.

I'd say Audi's finally crossed over to my list of companies with the best executed designs. No surprise since VW's been there for the pas 6 months or so. This one's a stunner and I bet sales will prove it too, just as they have with Benz. The only sales numbers I disagree with are those for the new 5 series which "borrows" the chin intake from *gasp* Hyundai's Gen-Coupe and still manages to not look quite as good.

As a long time VW/Audi fan I have to agree with you. Of all the Big 3, BMW has I think the worst design crisis inside and out. The new 5-series man is that car boring. I think the previous 5 looks more futuristic. This new 5 looks like it should have come out in 2004 not 2011 and I don't even want to talk about the new X3. The same goes for MB's E-class. To tell you the truth, I think the car has an ugly front end, but their interiors are way better than BMW's. Other than the E, MB's designs are very attractive.
Except for the A5 and R8, I think Audi's designs have become a little predictable. If you study their designs up-close, you can see the lines flow very well, their cars look nice from all angles but they are starting to look bland and boring, like face lifts from their predecessors. I am really disappointed at the A7. I really really liked the front end of the concept car and the production car doesn't even remotely resembles the concept's aggressiveness. Hopefully the S7 or RS7 can rectify that.
I wanted to pull the trigger on an A5 but since the car has been in the market for 5 years, I'm going to wait for the re-design. I have high hopes that the 2012 will have DSG tranny, more hp on the 4, LED headlights and aggressive front end.

Hmm, well it pretty much looks what I expected it would look like. Blends in very well with the rest of Audi's line-up, although that could be both good and bad. People who appreciate Audi's design philosophy will like this car, others who think their entire line-up looks to similar will probably only see this as another drop in the proverbial bucket.

Still, I gotta say that the second picture makes me feel a bit...queasy. I think it's just the angle of the shot, but something doesn't feel right about the sloping roof line. It almost reminds me of the Panamera's profile (excluding the rear fascia). Or like...it's almost a wagon, but just not quite there.
