Twin-engine DeLorean – click above for high-res gallery

Why is it that people feel compelled to do silly things to DeLoreans? At least this one hasn't been totally ruined by making it another "Back To The Future" tribute car to manifest its owner's fawning lack of originality. This particular DMC-12 doesn't want for ingenuity, just pop the hood. No, not the rear engine hatch, where you'd expect to find an underwhelming PRV V6, but the compartment up front that used to be the trunk.

Why is there a 2.0-liter Honda engine stuck in front? Well, it teams with the 8.2-liter Cadillac engine out back, of course. The Caddy motor isn't included in the auction, curiously, but it is available for an extra sum. Reading through the seller's comprehensive information clearly points out that the car wasn't a concours example before the swap, and settling for a simple restoration wasn't going to happen. So you end up with a DeLorean with an aggregate of twelve cylinders, none in stock form. The car isn't perfect, but hey, what do you want for a current bid price of $6,100? Thanks for the tip, flyingaero!

I was hoping that, if no one else, a car blog could discuss DMC without mentioning "Back to the Future," but I guess not.

no one could talk about the delorean without mentioning "Back to the Future"

      Absolute brilliance.
If you check the guy's website, it runs fine.

wait what? This is a poorly written article. Is this car front AND rear-engined? Why is there a mention of the front trunk no longer being a trunk?
Actually, the car used to be REAR engined, and is now dual-engined.

Technically, DeLoreans are rear engined like Renault Alpines, Corvairs, and Porsche 356/911.

But supposedly the weight difference between a DMC12 being rear engined or mid-engined is negligible due to the geometry of the X-frame, and the car's stainless body anyway.

Crackpipe. Why couldn't they have just shoved a turbo'd 4 into the rear and been done with it? This has "catastrophe" written all over it...
Yeah, i'm thinking that this would be a nightmare to attempt to drive. You'll have the rears trying to go 60mph while the fronts are getting all scrubbed out spinning at 45mph.

If you can shoehorn a V8 in the rear, why bother with a 4 banger up front?
if only there were a company that made a rear mounted turbo charged high performance 6 cylinder.
I had a friend a few years back who really wanted to build one with a Cadillac Northstar engine in it.

Not sure why, but he was very gung-ho about it.

      9.422 1/4 mile time.

      That's ridiculous and insane.
