Gotham Dream Cars announces Legends Dream Car Tour

It's fantastic enough to get to drive a Lamborghini - any Lamborghini. Be it a Gallardo, Murcielago, Diablo, Countach, whatever... you won't have to ask us twice if we want to get behind the wheel. Gotham Dream Cars, an exotic car rental company based in New York, is making driving some of Italy's finest supercars even more enticing. They have announced the Legends Dream Car Tour, in which a handful of of people willing to part with $1495.00 get to pilot five different Lamborghinis during a half-day of driving. But wait, there's more! As a bonus, each participant will also get to experience riding shotgun with Valentino Balboni, Lamborghini's legendary test driver. The tour is only scheduled for two days in June, so those who are interested better sign up before the slots are filled. More details in the press release after the jump, where we've also stuck the classic Top Gear clip of Valentino taking Clarkson for a spin in the Diablo VT.

PRESS RELEASE:
MANHATTAN, New York – Gotham Dream Cars (GDC), New York and Miami's premier "ultra-exotic" car rental company and membership car club, will hold their first-ever Legends Dream Car Tour™ on June 9 and 10, 2009. This intimate event will give car lovers and Lamborghini enthusiasts the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to drive the latest Lamborghinis alongside famed Lamborghini test driver Valentino Balboni on more than 150 miles of scenic, open roads in the New York area.
"The Dream Car Tour allows people to escape for a day while driving the cars of their dreams, whether they're Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Bentleys, or Aston Martins," said Noah Lehmann-Haupt, Founder/CEO of Gotham Dream Cars. "We created the Legends Dream Car Tour to offer enthusiasts the chance to blow off some steam and at the same time have an up-close and personal experience with automotive legends. We are excited to announce Valentino Balboni will be our inaugural Grand Marshal, and are pleased to invite enthusiasts to meet, drive with, and commemorate Lamborghini's most legendary driver in an adrenaline packed, four hour drive."
The Legends Dream Car Tour will consist of a morning session (8 a.m. - 1 p.m.) and afternoon session (2 p.m. - 7 p.m.) on both June 9 and 10. The Tour will allow participants the chance to spend time with Balboni and pilot several of the newest Lamborghini models including the successor to the best-selling Lamborghini of all time, the Gallardo LP 560-4, along with the Gallardo Spyder, the Murciélago and the ultra-powerful Murciélago LP 640.
Each tour will include breakfast or lunch (depending on which session participants select) at GDC's clubhouse in Northern New Jersey, a full vehicle overview and safety presentation, and a meet and greet with Balboni. The Tour will then put participants behind the wheel of each of the five cars, including time riding shotgun to Balboni as he leads the tour as the Grand Marshal. Seats for the tour must be reserved in advance, and can be purchased for $1495 per driver. Non-driving passengers can attend free of charge. I'd take the $15,000 I have in savings towards the Cadillac CTS-V coupe and drop it all just to have a Veyron for a weekend.

Is it worth it?
Absolutely.

I wouldn't say so. The driving will most likely be highly supervised with little or no liberty to test the cars properly. If I had that money for a joy ride I would rather turn to an exotic rental and get me a LP650 that I can torture like a sebring for 24 hours, as opposed to paying $1400 to ´sample´ cars for 40minutes each while a nanny is riding shotgun.

Not sure, man. It's possible, but everytime they've held this event a lot of people have always been happy with their experiences.

I think i saw this setup at the ny auto show, i didn't pay too much attention because it seemed like a pushy sales situation and i just wasn't in the mood for it.
I know this may sound odd to some of you guys, and i'm ok with that, but what i'd really like to drive is the zr1, z06 and the viper.
These lambos and ferraris are nice and all, but i'm more of a brute force guy than i am a finese guy.

Seems odd they push "New York City" so hard in all their PR. I couldn't think of a worse place to spend a day with one of these awesome cars. Thankfully it seems they are not located in NYC, but why make people dig to find that out?

This isn't new. I did this almost 2 years ago when my brothers wife got it for him as his 30th birthday present.
At the time you got to pilot 6 DIFFERENT cars - I'm not sure if this has really been changed to all Lamborghinis or not. At the time the cars you test drove were a Porsche GT3, Ferrari F430, Murcielago, Gallardo, Bentley Continental, and Aston Martin Vanquish (there was an E60 M5 that had been on the list, but crashed a day earlier). You alternated between driving and being chauferred in the back of either a Rolls Royce Phantom, Bentley Silver Spur, or the tour guides car.
You don't test drive the cars in NYC. They are based out of NJ and you head upstate on a mix of interstate and backroads driving. At the time, the only car that required a chaperone was the GT3 (if you couldn't drive stick, they would drive it for you - and yes, a lot of people couldn't) and the Murcielago (because it had so much power and no traction control).
You certainly weren't allowed to push the car at 10/10ths (nor would you want to, since if you damaged any vehicles you'd be paying for them), but it was a very enjoyable way to tour upstate NY for a few hours in a million dollar automotive caravan. Most people will never get to enjoy the sound of a Lamborghini exhaust at full throttle, and this is a decent way to do that even if only for a short time. The regular Dream Tour is only $900 as well. Not sure why it would be worth spending 2X as much to drive only Lamborghinis.

I did their American dream car tour last week in NJ. Great crew and amazing cars. Drove Lambo Gallardo Spyder/Coupe, F360, F430 (my fave), Murcielago and Quattroporte.
Had a total blast. The only downside is now I desperately want my own Ferrari F430 :(

I was thinking Valentino Balboni died in a crash while testing cars a year or so ago. Must have been another test driver. Anyone know who I'm talking about?
