A Mercedes Benz without a tachometer is absolutely diabolocal, is Daimler trying to compete with Buick?....lol

Might have a digital tacho somewhere but come on, this is the S-Class, a car made for comfort and lazy automatic gearboxes.
Who needs a tach?

Look again.

A proper car should have proper gauges! That itty bitty tach just doesn't do it.
Tecmec 9:23AM (4/15/2009)
Are you serious? My moms Buick Park Ave has a tach too.
danotoriousb 1:38PM (4/15/2009)
It most definitely has a tach, what on earth are you talking about? To the right of the LCD screen is a tach, I should know, Im one of the lucky ones who drive one

Is it just me, or does the steering wheel look it's about the same size as my bike wheel??
The SplitView is kinda cool - that way, the wife can't be a side-seat driver.

I noticed that too. It's either that or that German manning that wheel is tiny.

The new 7-Series comes close, but in my opinion, the S-Class is still THE car of the full-size ultra-luxury sedan class.
Bring on the 2010 XJ and A8!

Very nice car. But @ 0:55 when the car rolls thru the puddle, I wouldn't be thinking "Oh, AWESOME, my car's totally looking powerful crashing thru this puddle with 4Matic power!"....instead, I'd be thinkin' "D@mmit, now I got all this nasty-@ss puddle water all over my d@mn car!"...LMAO!!!
That Splitview feature is AWESOME!!! Very innovative!

ACURA23CL:
"That Splitview feature is AWESOME!!! Very innovative!"
It has been available for some time already, Alpine Dual View screen:
"12th September 2006
[...]
while the driver glances to check the sat-nav, the front seat passenger can be watching a film on the same unit. An ultra-fine mask separates the images and directs them towards different seats. The screens will go on sale next year and cost around £1,200. "

First dual view LCD screens were developed by Sharp:

And Hyundai Grandeur has had this Sharp dual view display installed in dash since February 2008:

***Advertisment for Splitview (Begin)***
"Oh NO, not this again!!! Ever feel obligated to talk to your front seat passenger? Especially if it's your wife/girlfriend? Thought she'd never shut the f**k up?!?!? Well, we at Mercedes know exactly how you feel. Now, you NEVER need to feel that way again with Splitview, featured in the All-New Mercedes S-Class Sedan!
Simply slap some headphones on her head, pop in a movie, and she can watch in blissful isolation, while you drive in absolute peace and quiet!
Mercedes-Benz...breaking couples apart and facilitating anti-social behavior since 1901!"

I have driven a 2009 S-Class quite a bit and it's the most comfortable experience I ever had in a car. Damn fast in Sport mode, you can make the tires scream, and perfect to drive your grandma in Comfort mode with a more relaxed suspension and gearbox. Not to talk about Heated/vented/masagged/air-cuchioned seats... I wouldnt mind changin my sofa at home for them xD
The digital Gauges and Tachometer are awesome as they are as responsive as the analog ones. On the other hand you can disable them and put in that screen other controls like night vew assist, or mix them with other controls.
I'm really looking forward to seeing how good Split view is. As #10 says, Navis and Split view together can save many relationships.... ROFL

So with splitview is the screen still gonna rotate to face either front occupant?

What's the title is about? I didn't see any cool technology in this video. All I saw was exterior shots of S driving around and a few shots of Navi unit showing regular stuff (maps, video and car status).

What a stupid video. Lots of the same old standard shot of cars driving on curvy roads with lame "dramatic" background music, and not a whole heck of a lot in the way of innovative cabin tech. Not impressed.
