Click above for gallery of the 2010 Camaro SS

We've had fun looking at the new Camaro in LS and LT trim, and even the RS appearance package livens things up a bit, but if we're to be honest, we really only care about the SS model. Fortunately for us, new photos of the Camaro Super Sport have found their way online thanks to Kevin Kolvenbach who goes by the handle of RagSS on the forums. It's claimed that RagSS took these pics, which we find suspect considering their high quality. Well, maybe he took this one. Regardless, they were taken and we're told show the Camaro SS basking in the sun around Hudson Valley, New York, another claim we doubt considering the type of vegetation and, oh, we don't know, large mountains in the background. Go west, young man.

With a 6.2L LS3 V8 producing 422 hp and 408 lb-ft of torque, the SS will be the cream of the Camaro crop for now and probably some time to come, as its power level puts the SS nearly on par with the base Corvette. While the Camaro SS may lack many of the Corvette's other attributes, we're fairly certain Chevy doesn't want to start cannibalizing Vette sales.

Who even cares about this car anymore? I have been seeing 'leaked' photos for three years now. Way to drag out the launch.

So that's what a coffin nail looks like.
Aww man, I was really hoping the SS would look much more differentiated from the rest of the line. Honestly, it doesn't look all too different from the RS. I would imagine you would want to differentiate yourself a little more from your baby brother, the V6, than with just a few SS badges and hood scoops.

There are probably other details I'd notice in person and not in the pics, but at any rate, it is a disappointment. Maybe I hyped it up too much in my mind, but overall it seems like it is a bit lacking in visual punch, at least in photos.

What happened to the projector lights with lens? Aren't these lights HID lights?
      ..Ben
You don't get the projectors unless you add the RS Package to the car, making it an SS-RS, or RS-SS I guess..

RS Pkg is available on the V6 car too.

What happened to the headlights? I thought that the SS package was the top of the line... while the RS was somewhere in the middle? The RS has some cool looking projector (HIDs?) lights, and the SS has the boring standard lights.

I'm really looking forward to when this car is available. Maybe then there won't be so many posts about it.

so far i like it..i saw the challenger the other day on the streets..that was one cheap lookin vehicle .hopefully this wont look cheap

I agree the SS should look more agressive than the V-6 but at least there will be plenty of aftermarket support from GM and everyone else to make it how you want.

Other than the mailslot scoop and revised front fascia its about the same.

They should offer some rim choices on the V-8 to help make it stand out.

... It looks the EXACT same thing as the regular Camaro...
        What were you expecting?
The RS 'package' ads the HIDs to any Camaro trim level.

This is probably a 'base' SS.

I'm sure there will be an HID option (maybe an RS/SS package?) to add to the SS.

Driving back from DIA yesterday I saw a fully undisguised white CTS Coupe (one 3 inch checkerboard stripe across the back, that's it) on the back of a car trailer coming from the airport.

      Un. Fricken. Believable.

Assuming this will come close to the same price, I would take that CTS any day of the week.

Any spy photogs in Colorado, be on the lookout. It is here, and is completely without camo. I didn't have a camera on me or I would have gotten pics.

according to camaro5.com the ss is supposed to be less that $30,000 and is supposed to have a 400hp 6.2L or an optional 422hp 6.2L.

While I would kill people to buy a CTC-V :)... this car is considerably faster than a regular CTS. I think they're for a completely different market... the CTC is an ultra luxury coupe with all leather interior and smooth everything, while the Camaro is a ball bustin muscle muchine with handling :). Both are good at what they are IMHO.
Oh, I understand the performance difference...

The CTS Coupe is one of the most stunning vehicles I have seen in, well, one HECK of a long time. Absolutely stunning in person.

I would take the performance hit for it, gladly.

That, and I am pissed I didn't get shots of it to share, so:

Maroon Semi, last seen at ~6:30 heading away from DIA on Pena Blvd exiting at 56th near the hotels. Car trailer full of vehicles including many CTS sedans, single white undisguised CTS coupe on the back/bottom of the transport with a single 3 inch checkerboard stripe going from the back of the rear wheel-well around the trunk to the other rear wheel well. PLEASE someone get some shot of this thing!

I think the LT RS is pretty much what you want!
