Andrea Pininfarina killed in motorcycle accident
We're saddened to convey the latest reports from Italy on the untimely passing of Andrea Pininfarina. Andrea Pininfarina, head of the eponymous design studio, was the son of Sergio Pininfarina and grandson of the carrozzeria's founder Battista "Pinin" Farina.
According to the announcement by Confindustria, the industrial association over which Sergio once presided and of which Andrea served as vice-president, Andrea was killed in a motorcycle accident in Turin, not far from the company's headquarters. He was only 51 years old. Our condolences to the entire Pininfarina family, and our appreciation to Guy for alerting us to the sad news.

So very sad, so many beatiful cars over the decades have been adorned with the Pininfarina badge, Quattroporte, GranTurismo, P4/5 just to name a few of the modern ones
RIP

His name will, fortunately, live on through the company.

He rode a Vespa and hit/was hit by a Ford Fiesta.

That is actually very funny on a few levels but I feel bad for thinking so.

Gotta respect someone with that much money and access to all sort of cars to drive a vespa.

Very sad to hear this, but as another poster mentioned, the last name is spelled incorrectly. That said, this was another blow to the family in the midst of their recent business and personal problems of the past couple years.

A lot of good designs were made while the company was under his leadership. A real shame to lose another member of that talented family.

Geeze. I read this shortly after hearing that my little brother was just hit by a car on his bicycle (thank God he is okay). Rest in peace, and I hope the best for the family.

Very sad and unfortunate news but get over the phony sentiments already AB. Please just report the news as news and leave out the personal conjecture about how sad the author became on hearing the news. I am sure there was no moment of silence at AB or anything. Also posters, enough with the sympathy card crap. Who is the audience for this stuff? Do you think the family is reading AB to see if "SuperCar123" is sad and praying for them? Really? Come on. Talk about the great things that the guy did but don't add phony sentiments because you think that is the right thing to do. It is so very irritating every time there is a post about someone's tragic death we have to be subjected to a triage of sappy sentiments. It makes so little logical sense to post such drivel. Please stop and AB please stop with the phony sad tone article. Just report what occurred and leave it at that. I know everyone means well but it is just so stupid.

I agree, AB could not even take the time to make sure his name was spelled correctly yet they are very sad and depressed by the news. Maybe they were so overcome with emotion that the spelling error is to be expected.

I feel sorry for you, NAMU.

Nobody is holding a gun to your head.
Go read something else that makes you upset for no reason.

I really don't see any reason why people shouldn't express their condolences. Sure, the family of the deceased won't likely read the commenters condolences, but c'mon, showing a little compassion to this man by paying our respects is perhaps the least we can do.
What do we should discuss instead? Would you prefer we ponder about the details of his accident? That's a tad bit insensitive don't you think?

The funny thing is the guy has clearly voted down posts that disagree with his rant. Take your angst somewhere else, emo boy.

Please somebody correct his name...

Very strange that they left the "R" out of both the first and last name.
Beastage 9:08AM (8/08/2008)
Actually makes sense, probably a dirty/faulty R key.
