Click to view the Hemi-powered Rolls in hi-res

Remember back in the day when the engine output on a Rolls-Royce was listed as "adequate" or "more than adequate"? We don't know what the old guard would make of this, but adequate doesn't even come close.

This vintage Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow has had its "ordinary" 6.75-liter V8 swaped out for a 592 Hemi, complete with dual-stage nitrous system for a reported output of over 1,000 horsepower. The chrome engine popping out of the hood might not be the average Rolls buyer's cup of tea, as it detracts from the usually-dominant classic grille, but the leather-covered roll cage is pure class. And here we thought the modern day Phantom was powerful enough as is....

Haha, nothing like bad taste striking twice. Take one overpriced (ugly) snobmobile and add a low-brow Mopar engine tuned to a ridiculous horsepower level. What a joke. Exposed blowers is so 80's it's laughable. I'd prefer a bit more subtlety in my performance car.

Someone send that to Top Gear.

If Jezza brought that up during the news, James' head would probably explode.

Jezza: I went on Autoblog this week and I found THIS!

        Boom!

So stupid it's cool. Leather wraped roll cage, haha.

Now this is like a modern Rolls Royce should look like! (maybe drop the blower under the hood). I think it's very beautiful. Classy lines with a HEMI, and Nitro: WIN

Yeah, maybe money can't buy class, but it can buy all the outrage you want. Blown Roller on big'n'littles FTW.

      So is this a Chroyce?

I don't see where all the hate is coming from on this one. Compared to the donor how can you say any of the mods are overdone? I've never understood the donkification craze but this car doesn't suffer many of the donk sins. Instead it moves the Rolls more towards the traditional muscle car with five-spokes and a tall induction system that actually works. All the original chrome helps to welcome the tweaks. About the only thing I would change is to remove the original hood ornament as it clashes with the blower.

This might help: close your eyes, picture a light-grey Dodge Charger (current rendition), then look again at this thing. With the forward pitch of the grill the Rolls actually has some sporty lines.

You do all realize that with a Chevy engine this is probably one of the most reliable classic Rolls out there? Had an 88' Silver Spirit that was in the shop 90% of the time. Curious to know what kind of suspension and brakes he put in. I'm with vh on turning, these cars are awful. The brakes on the 88 were mineral oil based and completely awful. Hands down one of the worst engineered cars of our time. The interior treatment is a completely different story however!

      What a classless travesty.
