eBay Motors sells 3 millionth vehicle, reimburses buyer and then some

eBay Motors has been a category of eBay.com since 2000, and eight years later the online auction house has marked a milestone by facilitating the sale of its 3,000,000th vehicle. The milestone model was a 2002 Ford F-250 pickup won by Patricia Weidler of Otego, NY, who bought the truck to help her husband's burgeoning construction business. To celebrate the occasion, eBay Motors reimbursed the Weidlers for the truck, which they won with a bid of $8,886 from a dealership in Northampton, MA, and also threw in $3,000 in parts and accessories for it. Man, we bet the eBay Motors team is glad the 3 millionth vehicle didn't turn out to be a Ferrari F430.

Man, That Patricia Weidler sounds like one classy lady, buying a work truck for her husbands biz. Not to mention, she got the best. F250. :) OK I'm biased there shoot me.
Kudos to her, and Kudos to Ebay for doing such a nice thing.

If it had been a F430 I bet they would be celebrating the 4 millionth instead :)
Jvijil @ Apr 18th 2008 11:28AM

Burgeoning construction business??? Talk about an anomaly. Are we sure that Otego, NY is part of the united states? I mean Canada might have came in the dark and stole Otego from us.

If only I'd hit Buy It Now on that Impreza, that could have been me! In my home town, no less.

Does that 3-million mark include all the jerks who "won" auctions, but failed to follow through on the transaction -- like the a**hole who stood me up after he was the high bidder on my '70 Mercury Cougar?
BLS @ Apr 18th 2008 12:01PM
Who me? Just kidding. That was my thought exactly. Are these successful auctions or all that ended with a winner?
Dan @ Apr 18th 2008 11:55AM
I bet the 3,000,000th was actually a Triumph and they rolled their eyes and went to the 3,000,001st

If it weren´t for the sellers this shouldn´t work. Nothing for the seller???
rar @ Apr 18th 2008 12:32PM
Yes, the seller got $8886.00
Jorge @ Apr 18th 2008 2:59PM
Do I have to explain that the buyer got a plus and the seller dind´t?? it´s obvious the payment was expected, but ebay motors was celebrating the 3 millionth sell not purchase, so why the prize is only for the purchaser and not the seller?... clearer than that and I have to take the sesame street puppets to explain.
rar @ Apr 18th 2008 3:07PM
Chill, it was a joke.
Seoultrain @ Apr 18th 2008 11:59AM
That woman should be careful. She got a free car and accessories? Once you owe the mob and you're in, you can never get out.
BLS @ Apr 18th 2008 12:01PM
They got a sale, didn't they?
Mobius_1 @ Apr 18th 2008 12:28PM
Wasn't there a Maserati MC12? Now that would be worth reimbursing
Tim @ Apr 18th 2008 12:42PM
