HUMMER HX not in the new G.I. Joe movie

Click above for first high-res official pics from the G.I. Joe movieThe
HUMMER HX concept would have made one hell of a live-action
VAMP in the upcoming
G.I. Joe flick, but we have it on very good authority that this particular bit of vehicular dream casting is not to be. The
HUMMER HX/G.I. Joe rumor is one we've been trying to chase down since early last week when we first heard it, and we finally cornered a well-placed source who explained that HUMMERs will appear in the movie, but
not the HX. If
Clutch had made the cut to be part of the movie's cast of characters, he'd probably be really upset right now. Bummer for GM, too, as HX could have been this movie's
Bumblebee. On an unrelated note, it would appear that director Stephen Sommers' wardrobe department got the look for
Snake Eyes exactly right. (
Ray Park, who played Darth Maul in
Phantom Menace, is in the suit.)

They're making a GI Joe movie?! Good grief.
I suppose there will be a He-Man movie shortly thereafter?

No toy will be left unexploited.

I was actually excited about this until I saw the cast... The GI Joe's I played with looked like men, not 17 year olds...
Case in point - the guy who played "Tommy" on "Third Rock from the Sun", who still looks 14, is in this movie. His role?
Cobra Commander.

They aren't making a GI Joe movie. They are making an abomination: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,296054,00.html

YES

I was actually expecting either Thundercats or Jem and the Holograms would be next as He-Man has already been (badly) done.
The pillaging of our youth continues, o fellow children of the 1980s.

Plus, this movie totally sucks compared to the R35 GT-R.
Talisman @ Mar 24th 2008 3:35PM
lol, this may be a bad idea to make this seeing as they could ruin fond memories from my childhood, however Snakes Eyes looks bad@ss.
Michael @ Mar 24th 2008 3:37PM
As long as there is a good fight between Qwik Kick and Storm Shadow I'll be happy with it.
Oh, and Eric, there already was a He-Man movie called Masters of the Universe with Dolf Lundgren in the late eighties!

Doods, GI Joe The Movie is going to be teh leetzors!
In a way, the dood playing CC makes sense. CC is a weasely little turd, much like Joseph Gordon-Leavitt, who for years I wanted to punch in the face. Repeatedly.
Anyways, the movie follows the comic book, moreso than the movie. Hopefully, at least one person will actually get shot, albeit probably not with a laser.

BTW, Qwik Kick is teh sux.
Uber props goes to Alex Nunez for the sweet link to the GI Joe Database. Diggin' the bio on Clutch.

Ray Park looks bad-ass. Then again, he couldn't look much goofier than Toad from the first X-Men flick.
That said, this movie is going to suck donkey balls. Stephen Sommers is the same guy who directed The League of Extradinary Gentleman and Van Helsing. *sigh* So much for the run of decent summer blockbuster comic flicks lately. On another note, I heard from somebody who saw a rough cut of Iron Man and The Dark Knight, both of those movies are very VERY good.
mammy @ Mar 24th 2008 4:57PM
who is going to watch a GI Joe movie?
Azrael4h @ Mar 24th 2008 11:38PM
Probably the same folks who'd watch a Transformers movie.
I await The Swat Cats.
John R @ Mar 25th 2008 7:13AM
LMAO! Swat Kats!
But Snake Eyes does look badass. However, I don't think a Stormshadow vs Snakes Eyes battle royal will be enough to save this movie.
Or maybe it will. I heard the guy who played Seraph in The Matrix: Reloaded is going to be Storm Shadow.
Azrael4h @ Mar 25th 2008 10:42PM
To be honest, I had no idea there was a G.I. Joe movie being made, but I'm not surprised. I doubt it'll be good, it's hard to take a cheesy cartoon and comic and translate it well into movie/tv form.
But we'll see. A lot of people said and thought Transformers was going to suck and bomb, and it not only was fairly decent for a cheesy action flick; it had a hot girl who worked on cars. That one facet shines out over everything else.
Somehow add that in G.I. Joe, and I'll buy the DVD.

well, i think it's gonna be one heck of a movie. when there were rumors that there was gonna be an x-men movie, i told myself how absurd that would be, and that hollywood can't pull it off. But they did! and then i saw spiderman, fantastic four, hellboy, and others. i'm not too thrilled about channing tatum playing duke, but as for the rest i'm kinda excited to see how it all pans out (even CC). i bet this one will top the box office...i bet my socks on it..
