I'm a sucker for restomods as well as anything with the Viper V10, so this two-tone 1970 Challenger in the Dodge display was right up my Mopar alley. Built by Delaney Auto Designs of Shreveport, LA, this modified Mopar features a Mopar Performance V10 crate engine pumping out 585 horsepower mated to a Tremec 6-speed manual transmission. An independent rear suspension is also sourced from the Viper, and brakes have been upgraded to Wilwood front and rear discs. Paint was done by PPG and is a mix of Dodge SRT8 black and Lamborghini yellow. Click on the gallery link to view high resolution shots from the show floor.

This is why ya gotta love SEMA, look at that thing! If you like cars and can't appreciate that for what it is then you are an Alien and I'm calling the MIB. :p
nissanfreak87 @ Nov 1st 2007 11:15AM
Dang, I really, really want one
gotta love the old school muscle cars
pd @ Nov 1st 2007 11:25AM
Wonder if the V-10 would fit in the new Challenger? Oh, and cue the HATERS in 5,4,3,2 .....
Carlos @ Nov 1st 2007 11:43AM
With enough cutting and welding, anything can fit. This thing is BADASS
Shipey @ Nov 1st 2007 11:44AM
I HATE not owning this!
Does that count?
Car is sweet, but this has been done before. When I was at SEMA in '05 there was one there (may have been a 'Cuda) with a full Viper interior as well. Don't know why, as Viper interiors aren't really an upgrade.
Guenther @ Nov 1st 2007 11:53AM
Shipey- I remember seeing probably the same car in the Cobo basement at the Mopar booth during NAIAS in 06. Viper V10, seem to recall it was yellow.
matt delaney @ Nov 2nd 2007 9:37PM
this is a new car. the only cutting was for the 6 spd. anyone can put a v10 in an e body with this front sus. you can also bolt in the ind. rear by mid 2008. this car was designed so you can build one. custom built not lots of viper parts from a totaled viper. Mopar crate motor...new 08 trans...new rear center section for retrofit in 2003-2006 vipers for more power handeling. Mopar Performance parts for everyone. we just make them fit
TriShield @ Nov 1st 2007 11:55AM
The new Dodge Challenger should offer an SRT-10 model as the top-of-the-line. With the Viper's new 600hp V10 under the hood. That would be an excellent way of burying the Mustang GT500.
J. D. Billiford @ Nov 1st 2007 4:50PM
>>> Who knows, Trishield? Perhaps just such a variation of the new Challenger may be somewhere in the pipeline and the folks at Chrysler are keeping the news under wraps.
Anything is possible.

Now, this is a restomod. Fantastic job.
Imagine that the "donkeyfrog" riviera had gone this direction with a GM crate big-block, suspension and brake upgrades, and tasteful paintjob...
They can't all be winners, I guess...
SuperSkyline89 @ Nov 1st 2007 12:14PM
if only the Americans still made cars that cool. The new Challenger's cool though, Mustang's are too played out now that Ford is making a new variant seemingly every damn week. Haven't made up my mind on the new Camaro yet.
rapidblue @ Nov 1st 2007 12:22PM
It's not that ford is making a new variant every week, it's the aftermarket crowd because that's the only muscle car they have to work with.
SuperSkyline89 @ Nov 1st 2007 2:39PM
Ya, I guess that makes sense. Either way, I'm sick of Mustangs. Hurry up and release the damn Challenger.
Justin @ Nov 1st 2007 12:24PM
It isn't a muscle car unless it sounds like one, so no thanks.
SuperSkyline89 @ Nov 1st 2007 2:40PM
How do you know what it sounds like?
Justin @ Nov 1st 2007 3:21PM
Because I've heard vipers before (of course with various exhaust systems), and while it had a pretty unique and decent sound, it didn't really say muscle car thunder like a v8.
I know, I know, its SEMA and its supposed to be different and unique, and I appreciate that, I'm just sayin.
SuperSkyline89 @ Nov 1st 2007 5:56PM
Oh, I thought you meant you have heard this specific car.
500 @ Nov 1st 2007 12:41PM
Gorgeous. I even like those wheels on it -- modern, but tasteful.
