Porsche flower wheel found in Russia

According to English Russia, our favorite site of kitschy Russian culture, this unique form of self-imposed vehicular vandalism is all the rage in the former Soviet country. This particular example was caught in Moscow, and appears to be the wheel of a Type 996 Porsche 911 Carbriolet that's overflowing with flora. Hmmm... hippies used to rave about flower power, perhaps the colorful decoration adds a few horsepower.

"kitschy...self-imposed vehicular vandalism"
Hmmm, is there by chance a large Mexican population in Russia now too?

Makes more sense than 24" wheels wrapped in rubber bands on a Caprice.
These are still functionally sports car wheels, just decorated tastelessly.

Agreed - more then some ugly wheels I would want to know what is that 4-wheel thing advertising on the building in the background?

It appears to be a Turbo Cabriolet and the owner may have been inspired by Janis Joplin's Porsche 356 that had a similar paint scheme. Maybe the owner will be into the Doors next year and he'll wrap the wheels in snakeskin.

If we put something like that on our VW Bus, it would give people even more reason to stare at it. Along with Pac man, flowers and the Aquabats, that would get it to an almost complete ensemble. Someone should try the whole thing in flower power, with flowers or floral patterns covering the whole thing. Not to disrespect Porsche, but if you've had pokemon cards on a Neon and sticky notes on a Jaguar (not to mention markers on a Mercedes) this could the next best thing.

Just like the "plaid" porsche that so many autoblog readers actually liked, this kind of relates to old-fashioned Russian folk art, don't necessarily think it's all about us, fellow Americans. I mean, SHEESH!
Get over yourselves, you FRICKING self-absorbed rednecks!

If they wanted a decent looking Porsche in the first place they would've never even bothered with the cabriolet

It makes sense, the 996 cabrio is the closest modern car to the old vw bus or a 60’s peace beetle cabrio. This 996 is a rear engine vw. The only closer car would’ve been to use the air cooled 993 cabrio.
