Hollywood's best and worst movie cars... take one!
On the heels of yet another movie promotion for Pixar's Cars, Cars.com (natch) has gone and selected what it considered the ten best movie cars of all time, along with five it figures should've been earmarked for the compactor.
The envelope, please ...
Best:
- 1981 DeLorean DMC-12, "Back to the Future"
- 1961 Ferrari 250 GT, "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" (for completists, that's a 250 GT California Spyder SWB, guys)
- 1974 Dodge Monaco, "The Blues Brothers"
- 1964 Aston Martin DB5, "Goldfinger"
- Batmobile Tumbler, "Batman Begins"
- 1968 Ford Mustang GT 390, "Bullitt"
- 1959 Cadillac Ambulance, "Ghostbusters"
- 1958 Plymouth Fury, "Christine"
- 1973 Ford Falcon, "The Road Warrior" (pictured)
- 2003 Mini Cooper S, "The Italian Job"
Worst:
- 1983 Ford LTD Country Squire, "National Lampoon's Vacation"
- 1974 Dodge Tradesman, "Napoleon Dynamite"
- Winnebago Chieftain, "Spaceballs"
- 1984 Ford Econoline, "Dumb and Dumber"
- 1963 Volkswagen Beetle, "Herbie: Fully Loaded"
Technical details, unique features and an explanation as to how they ranked the vehicles are at the link. Apparently, we've got more love for the Griswold's metallic pea-soup Wagonqueen Family Truckster than the folks at Cars.com. C'mon... where's your sense of humor, guys?

What about the 1976 AMC Pacer, light blue, featured in the Wayne's World movies?

This list is indeed broken. A crap-box from the Italian Job places the list while the '77 Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit and the '69 General Lee are abscent.
Honorable mention doesn't quite cut it... You might as well say that the Supra from the Fast and the Furious deserves to be on the list. And, regarding the Charger, while it was mostly a TV show I'd still pick the modern movie interpretation over the Italian Job.

What about Jason Statham's Audi from Transporter 2? I thought that was a pretty cool car!

I'd swap the Road Warrior and the Family Trucksters. One's pure comedy (the latter) and the other just a joke.
And I agree, the Trans Am from Smoke and the Bandit has to be on the good list.

11.
There is already one Mustang on the list from that Era... I thought that Bullit was a 67gt fastback, not a 68GT... Elenor supposedly is a 67 shelby gt500 ie a modified gt fastback. Although the recent movie used a 68 or 69 I think.

It may be of interest to some that the 1955 chevrolet from "American Graffiti" was the same one used in "Two Lane Blacktop."

I love Mcqueen's Mustang Fastback in Bullitt. As any guy knows, the greatest chase scene ever filmed. For T.V. Robert Urlich's 66 Cobra on Spenser For Hire. A beautiful classic car.
