Nissan GT-R Proto
It's definitely worth the wait. The GT-R will go into production in 2007 and the sooner, the better. The striking design touches hark back to previous GT-Rs. The round taillights are beautifully integrated with the rear end of the car, and the designers gave the entire body a mean muscular look. We've heard that this GT-R Proto closely resembles the production vehicle in execution. There are lots of photos after the jump.

The nose looks like a cross between an Audi and the next gen Mitsu Evo.

Wonder how it's going to look in police trim. http://carwallpaper.3jo.com/jp.html

The rear end looks like a 90's Mercury Cougar.

When I saw the ass I thought it was hot. When I saw the face I was like WTF is it crying for? I'd have to agree with Mark, the front fascia kills it. As was mentioned, I'm sure they'll clean it up, but ugg, that front has got to go.

This is a great car. But, the styling is sad. What's with the busy, blackout tears on the front end? Why does the rear look like the Cobalt Coupe SS? http://www.chevrolet.com/cobalt/ At least the side profile lines are good. The Japanese are so derivative in styling. Why on an awesome car, can't they be bold and beautiful? the last GT-R suffered ugly, and was so beautiful inside. Get some Italian or US designers into the mix, maybe, to draw a distinctive, pretty car design to match that awesome platform. The Hyundai Triburon even looked better when new.

Hey Solo203, You're too modest. Those mods look pretty good. How about trying something with the hood scoops as well? I think one of the reasons they said the car was 90% complete was because they wanted to leave some room for public feedback. Photoshop mods are the best advice they can get. Keep em' coming.

As far as the dual round tail lights, if you want to be technical those date back to the classic american cars such as the original impala and hey guess what the vette had those too I think. ;-)

Anybody who's a fan of the Skylines should be happy to see this car return. Anybody American that is a fan of the Skyline should be especially glad to see this car come to the states. Anybody who can't afford this car (me) should be crying right now.

I really do have a charred coloured penis.

LOVE the look and I am a big Skyline fan (stock...no ricing). But...if it's priced in the same segment as the 911, Vette and ESPECIALLY the new Cayman S, no dice!

For those that think there's a resemblance between the front grill of the GT-R and the Audi/Mitsu Concept-X grills, you do realize that this prototype is just an evolution of original GT-R prototype in 2001 which has a similar grill?

Looks great. But I'm sure the US will never get to see this beauty in stores.
