What makes the Volvo V60 Cross Country a Cross Country
TranscriptJAMES RISWICK: This is James Ricwick for Autoblog, and I am standing on the Baltic Sea in Sweden, just a little short of the Arctic Circle. That is the town of Lulea, and this is the Volvo V60 Cross Country. Now it is minus-25 degrees Celsius or whatever that is in Fahrenheit, so I'm gonna make this quick.
V60 Cross Country is only available with the T5 engine. That's a 250 horsepower, turbo charged, only four cylinder. All the cross countries are all-wheel drive. Sends power front and rear, but there's no torque vectoring at the rear.
Now, in terms of the ride height, it's a cross country so it is taller. 60 millimeters taller, in fact. 10 of those millimeters just come from more sidewall on the tire. Now you can get those tires in 18s, 19s, or 20s. These are the 19s. And the Cross Country also has a slightly wider track.
And then the suspension itself has softer spring rates. 8% softer than the regular V60. That's to make this car a little softer riding than the regular V60 or the S60. In fact, the difference in that softness is greater between the V60 and the V60 Cross Country than it is between the V90 and its cross country version.
Now, obviously, there are some visual differences, but mostly it comes down to these fender flares, which do kind of hide the wider track, as well as creating a more macho look. So that's the V60 Cross Country. And, again, it's really cold, so I'm gonna get back inside to the heated seats.
