It's that time of year again. Jeep's annual Easter Safari kicks off the first week of April, and as in (most) years past, the 4x4 builder is on location with a collection of concept trucks that may or may not hint at future options, accessories — and maybe even entire vehicles. Looking at you, Magneto. This year's mix includes a return of that electric project truck (now in version 3.0), along with four other in-house designs from the Jeep team. Jeep Performance Parts tagged along as usual with two more builds of their own. We'll have more from the field once we get a chance to play around with Jeep's toys in Moab. Let's dive in. This one's about as down-to-earth as they come, and frankly this blue-over-tan look is rather pretty. This is another Jeep Performance Parts showcase, and the truck wears a mix of existing accessory parts and conceptual additions. The Sideburn's fold-down brush guard returns and it gains several other accessories, including a convertible tube tailgate, custom fender flares, and Molle panels, and a new accessory mounting system for the dashboard. Yeah, we've seen that somewhere. MARK ALLEN: This happens to be the JPP Product Showcase Car. This is called the Departure, and it has a lot of really great features. Some of them are prototype. Some of them are available now. So it's sort of a mix. And we use the Moab to show this off.
First up front is this bumper bench. So this grill guard flips down. You can sit on that.
Prototype Fender Flares-- these are a flat style Fender Flare. 37-inch tire looks-- great color scheme on this vehicle, including this beautiful saddle leather interior. Tube doors, lighting, extra storage to it.
And on the back of the vehicle shows a really cool concept idea. We put it together here, and it's where the name Departure comes from, honestly. 37-inch tire shown on this prototype gate, stored on the inside, and then through a pivoting mechanism, can be pulled to the outside of the vehicle, and you gain the interior space back. Cool idea.
