The Volkswagen Golf R is the most powerful Golf model available in North America. The AWD Golf R is powered by a 292-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine mated to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed auto-shift manual transmission. Standard equipment includes 19-inch aluminum wheels, heated mirrors, LED headlights and daytime running lights, heated leather sport bucket front seats, automatic dual-zone climate control, SiriusXM HD satellite radio, 9 Fender speakers, a 400W amplifier, Bluetooth, an 8-inch touchscreen display and an integrated navigation system with voice activation. Safety features such as six airbags, a rear view camera, distance pacing cruise control, Park Pilot parking sensors, Lane Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, Front Assist w/Autonomous Emergency Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Pedestrian Monitoring are all standard. The Golf R gets a few noticeable upgrades for 2018 such as LED headlights, an increase in the display screen to 8-inches and a pedestrian detection feature was also added to the forward collision system.
