JOEL STOCKSDALE: Hi, everybody. This is Joel Stocksdale for Autoblog. I'm on the top of the new Audi Design Center in Engelstadt, Germany here at the Audi A7 reveal. This is the new A7 that we're looking at right now. It's a complete redesign from the ground up, and it's based on the Audi A8 platform.

It's got a variety of design changes. As you can see up front, it is very much inspired by the current A8. It's got some other neat designs, such as the headlights. See this LED pattern here? The lighting designers told us that it is inspired by digitization and other digital things, and that the lighted parts indicate 1s, which in binary indicates on, and the spaces indicate 0s, which indicates off.

Some other design updates. Instead of the one long shoulder line all the way down, it's got shoulder line highlights right over the wheels that apparently, according to Audi representatives, are indicative of the old Audi Quattro fender flare designs.

Still got the classic hatchback, but the window's been enlarged. The back end has seen significant updates. It's got some nice details. You can see the bumper seat meets up with the tail light, which meets up into this rear spoiler motif.

Tail lights are fully wrap around, and they are also LED. They have a very nifty start-up sequence. So if you ever see one fire up, make sure that you stick around to see those tail lights come up. For Autoblog, this has been the Audi A7 reveal.
