In this Autoblog Short Cut, our Green Editor John Snyder takes us up close and personal with some of the coolest features on the 2018 Honda Clarity Plug-in Hybrid.
TranscriptJOHN SNYDER: Hi, everyone, this is John Snyder with Autoblog. I'm here with the 2018 Honda Clarity Plug-In Hybrid. I just want to show you a couple things about this car. First of all, this color, I know-- I don't know how well you can see it here, but it's called "Moonlit Forest Pearl." It's sort of a deep green, and it is exclusive to the Plug-In Hybrid.
A couple other things-- I'll just give you a quick look around the car. Couple other things I thought were cool were some of the aerodynamic features. For one thing, we've got these inlets on the front, these ducts, and these go through and, you know, it comes out right here and passes air over the wheel. And those wheel caps actually help with that too. Wheel-- wheel caps actually help cool the brakes as well.
But on the rear door, you can see there's another duct. It starts there, and it comes out right there. And if you open the door, you can see there's the duct right there. And then, you know, just like the insight, the original insight, this helps keep some of the air off the wheels and helps it slip through a little bit better. One other feature I thought was kind of neat, doesn't have anything to you do with aerodynamics. It's got a pretty voluminous trunk.
But anyway, there's this little strip of glass right here that lets you see through. I thought it'd be cool for playing pranks on friends, hiding in the trunk and freaking them out. But it actually serves a purpose. When you're sitting in the driver's seat, you can see through that, through the rear view mirror, and it goes through the-- you can see through this glass right here. It helps with the visibility quite a bit. You can see the ground a few feet behind the car. But anyway, here it is, 2018 Honda Clarity PHEV. Thanks for watching.
