JEREMY KORZENIEWSKI: Hello, this is Jeremy Korzeniewski with Autoblog. And we are just outside of Santa Cruz, California. And we're testing out the new Honda Civic, specifically the Civic Hatchback.
As you can see, we've got two Civics parked next to each other. This red Civic, as you can see, is the sedan that you're used to seeing, that we've already test drove, and that we like quite a bit.
Moving this way, you can see this is the Civic Hatchback. We'll take a walk around the side here. As you can see, the Hatchback in profile. And coming around the back, you can see the major differentiator between the two Civics.
It's kind of interesting having them parked next to each other like this. You can see that the angle of the Hatchback isn't that different from the angle-- the rear glass of the sedan.
Obviously, there's a lot of styling changes. You can see these black, plastic, fake vents back here. Those will be a matter of taste. I don't particularly care for them. Tail lights are a little bit more sculpted, little more designed than on the sedan.
Obviously, being the Hatchback, this is what really matters. It's a good amount of space in there. Honda's done something pretty clever, mounting the cargo cover on the side. It could mount on either side. And it doesn't get in your way. There's no bar across the rear hatch when you're trying to put large objects in. It's a pretty clever design. Kudos to Honda for that one.
There's a space under here, as you'd expect. Close to the rear hatch. And with that cargo cover in place, nobody can see what you've got in there, valuable belongings.
