Confirmed

Charlize Theron to play villain in Fast and Furious 8

Charlize Theron has been cast as a villain in the eighth installment of the long-running Fast & Furious franchise. Theron's involvement has been confirmed by the official F&F Twitter account, which refers to her character as Vin Diesel and company's "greatest adversary."

Theron is no stranger to leading roles and action blockbusters. She stole the show as Furiosa in last year's Mad Max: Fury Road. Theron also appeared as a no-nonsense leader in Ridley Scott's Prometheus and showed up in the remake to The Italian Job. She now gets to go toe-to-toe with Diesel and The Rock. Given how outlandishly crazy the F&F films can get, we're expecting a good fight.

Possibly just titled Fast 8, the blockbuster arrives in theaters April 14, 2017. An earlier teaser hinted that Manhattan and perhaps the Empire State Building could be a setting in the movie. Photos also showed some filming taking place in Reykjavík, Iceland. Vin Diesel has suggested that installments 8, 9, and 10 might form a trilogy to end the main Fast & Furious series, but there have already been reports of spin-off films to keep the adventures going.
