What they lack in pure driving dynamics, the Need For Speed series often tries to make up for with actual plots. For the next installment in the long-running series, Electronic Arts' Ghost Games will create an even more realistic story experience by featuring five real-world drivers as "icons."
According to Ghost Games, the narrative in NFS will play a bigger role than ever before. Gamers will be able to make their own choices as they play through the story, with the icons influencing each player's style and reputation. Two of these icons should be instantly recognizable to Autoblog readers. Magnus Walker is the ultimate Porsche-phile and will feature as the game's "speed icon." He'll be joined by "style icon" Ken Block, rally driver, DC Shoes founder, and general Gymkhana maniac.
The other icons include Morohoshi-san, star of Luke Huxham's Underground Hero: Love To Hate Me; Nakai-san, the founder of the RWB tuning company; and the Risky Devil drift crew. You can get a taste of the assorted icons and their characters – not to mention scenes of both Walker's vintage 911 and Block's awesome Hoonicorn – in the trailer below that was released for the 2015 Gamescom conference. Style Icon - Ken Block is notorious for his style of aggressive driving, as he showcases in his phenomenal YouTube GYMKHANA series. Earn his recognition by mastering the art of precision sliding and jumping through corners and on the streets.
Build Icon - Nakai-san is the founder of RAUH-Welt BEGRIFF (RWB), a world renowned tuning and customizing company. Focus on creating that perfect customized ride as you look to impress him.
