Indian to hit Bonneville with Black Bullet Scout motorcycle

Indian Motorcycle is paying tribute to the brand's famous motorsports past at the Bonneville Salt Flats with a custom take on the Scout. Dubbed the Black Bullet, the cycle definitely earns the name with a tightly faired headlight, chopped rear fender, and a very short set of exhaust pipes. All the styling tweaks are done in metal, and with the rider stretched over the machine, the bike looks like it's shooting across the desert in the video above.

Probably the most famous Scout to ever speed across the salt flats was the one ridden by Burt Munro. The bike and its builder were celebrated in the film The World Fastest Indian. Even posthumously, the man and machine were managing to break records last summer after an error was found in the original calculations. Indian reintroduced the Scout in the model range in 2014 as part of the rejuvenated brand.
