Thieves Use Stolen Pickup Trucks In Jewelry Store Heist

Burglars robbed store of $250,000 in jewelry

Two thieves rammed a stolen Ford pickup truck through a New Jersey jewelry store window early Valentine's Day morning in a daring smash-and-grab robbery.

Security footage shows the tailgate of a Ford pickup truck bursting through the jewelry store's window in Paramus, N.J. The pair of thieves scrambled around the vehicle and wrapped cables around a massive safe. They used the truck to haul the safe out to a waiting front-end loader, which dumped the safe into a second stolen Ford truck.

"They were professional. They had a plan and executed it very well," said Detective Mike Kelly with Paramus Police told WABC.

The entire heist took two minutes. Police say both trucks and the front-end loader were stolen, along with a third truck. It's estimated that they stole $250,000 worth of jewels and did about $100,000 in damages to the building.
