If this seems crazy (and awesome), that's because it is. According to Bloomberg Businessweek, Koenigsegg is planning a car called the One:1 – as in, one horsepower per pound kilogram. Head honcho Christian von Koenigsegg describes this new hypercar as a "money-is-no-object venture" for a dealer in China.

A one-to-one power-to-weight ratio certainly sounds ridiculous, but it's not all that far-fetched. "Other cars have achieved this but by measuring dry weight – no oil, no water, no fuel," von Koenigsegg said in his interview with Bloomberg. The plan for the One:1 is to create a 1,400-horsepower car that weighs 1,400 pounds kilos taking into account fluids and even the driver.

Of course, a car of this caliber will have blistering performance. Computer simulations have reportedly projected a top speed of 279 miles per hour, and according to von Koenigsegg, the One:1 will be the quickest car from 0-124 mph, 0-186 mph and 0-248 mph. And you thought the recently unveiled Agera S Hundra (pictured) was bonkers.

A prototype of the One:1 is expected to be ready by the end of this year, and when the car enters production, only six examples will reportedly be produced. Naturally, all six have already been spoken for, and AutoWeek states that backup buyers have even been chosen in case those first six customers flake out. Dream on, folks.

      Koenigseggs are already pretty close to 1hp to kg, and I am sure even with fuel and driver they are about 1400-1500kg, so it seems that it's not a radical (and pretty much impossible) weight loss to 1400lb as the article incorrectly states, but a relatively moderate increase in power.

        Yeah, I can't believe they didn't realize that, even if the original source said 1400LB. At 1HP/LB, it would have more than TWICE the power to weight ratio of a Hennessey Venom, which itself has about twice the power to weight ratio of a Veyron. Or put another way, it would weigh less than an F1 car, and have almost double the power (of 2013 cars). We're basically talking about a Red Bull X1 GT5 car.

      So the commenters got it right that they plan on achieving one hp per 1 kg (not per 1 lb). AB got it wrong by a factor of 2.2. They mindlessly copied Autoweek, who made the same error. 1 hp per lb including driver and fuel is ludicrous, well exceeding formula 1, and should have raised a flag. It's also ludicrous to mix British units with metric. Let me know when they hit 1 kw / kg.

          Maybe they have consistently kept their cars below 3000 lbs, but not below less than half that. Autoblog, along with Autoweek, have it wrong. The goal is 1:1 hp to kilogram, not lbs. 1400 kg = 3080 lbs, which is the target weight of the car wet.

      All that effort to engineer and build everything from scratch, but they still can't hire a proper designer. This thing looks like its straight out of a unimaginative child's drawing of what a racy car should look like. I mean wipers straight up the middle of the windshield, seriously? I'm surprised the shifter doesn't doesn't have a 18 inch stick where the knob comes up right next to the steering wheel or a side sill that comes up 18 inches above the ground.

          because almost all modern cars (including this one) has the space between the windshield and hood where a wiper could hide away and rest, making it more aerodynamic, and not having that vertical bar in your field of view the whole time.

          Koeningsegg design excluding its prototype from 1997 dated from 2000 (CC and its recent variant Hundra) which is way older than the Veyron.
