Woman Drives Into Lake While Texting

While distracted, she plunged her car into five feet of water

The dangers of texting while driving are well known, yet many of us continue to do it. Recently, a 25-year-old woman crashed her car into a lake when she became distracted by a text message. Her Hyundai banked off of a tree and flew 60 feet into Waldorf Lake in Waldorf, Md.

The Charles County Sheriff's Office office told WSU9 News that the car landed in five feet of water, and the driver managed to escape through a window. She was taken to a local hospital, but did not seem to have any serious injuries.

Police are investigating the crash and distracted driving charges are pending.
