Two Men Burn 64 Cars After Failing To Douse Barbecue

More than 1,500 people escaped the blaze

Why did two men unintentionally light fire to a field serving as a parking lot in Brittany, France, torching 64 cars in the process? Hint: alcohol was a factor.

Two men had been barbecuing and drinking in a field, waiting for a stunt show to begin. They swore to police they had put the barbecue out before heading to the exhibition, unfortunately they didn't do a thorough job.

Over 1,500 spectators had to flee as the dry field burned, along with their cars. According to
The Local, some drivers fought with police to regain access to their vehicles. The pair immediately came forward to police and took responsibility for setting the wild fire. The two pit masters face two years in prison and reparations to the drivers of the cars they fried.
