After many delays, $150,000 biodiesel-powered Trident Iceni ready to launch

Back in 2007, Trident Performance Vehicles unveiled its Iceni, a biodiesel-burning two-seat sports car with a monstrous 6.6-liter V8 engine under its bonnet. Back then, Trident aimed to launch the Iceni at a price of £60,000 ($96,918 U.S. at the current exchange rate). Needless to say, that launch was delayed.

For the latest on the Iceni's launch, we turn to a report from Gizmag, which suggests that Trident will finally roll out the sleek bio-mobile on July 15th. Gizmag says the Inceni is still packing a 6.6-liter, twin-turbo diesel engine, which propels the supercar to a top speed of 230 miles per hour. The biodiesel-burning two-seater supposedly scoots from 0 to 60 mph in less than four seconds and – are you ready for this? – the Iceni gets 70 miles per gallon while cruising at a constant 70 mph and has 100,000-mile service intervals.

What does this biodiesel-burning machine cost? Well, the Iceni is now expected to launch with a base price of around $150,000. We'll see.
