eBay find of the day: Real-life Steampunk trike could be yours

There are a lot of interesting vehilces on eBay, but not many of them are quite like the mid-1960s steam-powered specimen pictured above. After all, this vehicle is DIY all the way, from the powertrain – a steam-powered contraption – to the everything else.

We don't know a lot about the trike other than what the seller tels us: it was built in the early 1960s and that it used to run. Does it now? Nobody knows, but the seller declares:

I can guarantee, this is one of a kind. This is a man's life's work, every part is handmade. ... I have never seen its equal, that's why I ended up with it. If you've ever worked with your hands, you will understand the scope of work involved. He definitely was an engineering genius.

You can see some of the engineering talent (is that the right word? Probably it is.) in the gallery below. There are about four days left in the auction and the starting price is a cool $1,500. So far, there are no bids.
