Following its launch on December 11th, Nissan delivered a paltry 106 Leafs to U.S. buyers before January 2011 came to an end. Though the Japanese automaker promises that, come March, it will pump out 4,000 Leafs per month, worldwide deliveries of the battery-powered hatch have moved along at a more modest pace.

The Mainichi Daily News reports that Leaf deliveries eclipsed the 1,100-unit mark near the end of last month. The rundown shows that the bulk majority of Leafs, 981 to be exact, have been handed off to public individuals, corporate fleets and government officials in Japan. U.S. Leaf deliveries accounted for the aforementioned 106 units and Europe had a mere 17 electric hatches head its way. In total, Nissan reportedly delivered 1,104 Leafs by the end of January.
