Video: Hay, here's a great idea how to clean up the BP oil spill

The BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico is an unprecedented man-made environmental disaster and efforts to stop the leak and clean up the spill have been just marginally successful thus far. We found a video floating (get it?) around the internet that shows a pair of men demonstrating a very unique, inexpensive and environmentally friendly way to grab the oil off the surface of the water. Hay, it turns out, isn't just for horses.

The men are Darryl Carpenter, vice president of Florida-based CW Roberts Contracting, and sub-contractor Otis Goodson. Carpenter came up with the idea of using hay to clean up the oil spill while driving to a job site last Monday. He immediately called Goodson and said:
Can you fill a large pan with water and oil, then grab a handful of hay and stir it in? Strain out the hay, then call me back and tell me what's left in the pan.
We don't want to ruin it for you, but the results are pretty astounding. Hit the jump to check out the video.
