Porsche goes green with an all-new paintshop

Porsche headquarters in Stuttgart will soon have a new paint-shop that, according to the company, is going to be one of the most environment-friendly in the world. The facility will be opened in 2011 and will be in charge of up to 170 Boxter and 911 models per day. How does a paint-shop become environmentally friendly? First of all, dust protection: the painting process is fully encapsulated, which reduces the room where painting takes place. The painting hall also features an electrostatic precipitator for paint dust, which reduces the emissions of solvents and particles. As a consequence, the facility can use a simple 10-meter smokestack for the air purifier. The paintshop also features all kind of energy saving devices and water treatment technologies.
