Two biodiesel conferences come to Florida in February

In early February, two biodiesel conventions will be held in the Kissimmee/Orlando area in Florida. The first is the 5th Annual Sustainable Biodiesel Summit (SBS) on the 2nd and 3rd. Directly following that, the National Biodiesel Board will host its National Biodiesel Conference & Expo 2008 from the 3rd to the 6th. Both events will be held at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center. The NBB says the organizers are "expecting [the] 2008 [conference] to break all past attendance and exhibitor records, thanks to the insatiable learning capacity of our industry members."

As for the SBS, the organizers are trying to tie sustainability to the bottom line, always a smart choice. It is unfortunate that these two events can't be merged in some way, as the SBS "focuses not [on] biodiesel for its own sake, but biodiesel as a means to realize greater environmental stewardship, shared economic development (particularly through smaller, community-scale businesses), and a stable, secure, self-reliant energy future." This is a message that everyone in the biodiesel industry should be able to expo around.
