VW Beetle goes from air-cooling to electron power

Over the past half century tens or hundreds of thousands of Type 1 Volkswagen Beetles have been transformed into other vehicles like dune buggies and assorted kit cars. Now a Methodist minister in Emporia, Kansas has used an old Beetle as the basis for his efforts to protest the war and America's dependence on oil. Rev. Mic McGuire has converted a noisy old Bug to battery power. The 72V coming from the batteries is enough to push the car 50mph and let it run for about 30 miles. You can check out a video at UMTV.org.
