The French postal service plans to order 10,000 electric vehicles

The BBC reports that the French postal service, or La Poste, is testing out electric vehicles to replace their current diesel fuel-powered vans. They are requesting quotes for the first batch of an expected 10,000 French-made electric vehicles, predominately from SVE and Heuliez, the latter of which is an electric vehicle manufacturer, the former is owned by the defense group Dassault. I do not know any more about the specifications of the vehicles, but the article quotes La Poste chairman Jean-Paul Bailly as saying, "According to our tests, it is six times cheaper to run an electric vehicle than a diesel vehicle." He also expects that greenhouse gas emissions should drop by a large margin. Thanks for the tip, Rick!
