Rarely does such a celebrated vehicle come up for auction on eBay. The Chicayne was Hot Rod Magazine's 2003 Hot Rod of the Year, Chevy High Performance Magazine's 2003 Chevy of the Year, Popular Hot Rodding's 2003 Street Machine of the Year, was honored as Best GM Vehicle and received Mothers Shine Award at the 2002 SEMA Show. The Chicayne has won pretty much every trophy that's cross its path. Who wouldn't honor a '62 Bel Air with a 1,400-horsepower twin-turbo 406 ci. engine? Nevermind that it's both a show quality custom and perfectly driveable on the street. The Chicayne even has its own set of one-off wheels designed by Billet Specialties, which now sells an entire line of "Chicayne" wheels.
One might think it a bit odd we found the Chicayne on eBay Motors and not in the pages of DuPont Registry, but as the description states, "eBay does reach the masses." Bidding just passed the $100,000 mark, and it's likely to accelerate as we near the auction's end on the 29th.
