Zap picks up steam with record sales and profit

Electric car maker Zap! has benefited from rising gas prices in the past and their financial numbers are showing it. They had record sales of $9.9 million for the first nine months of 2006, compared to $2.9 million during the previous year. Sales during the third quarter were $2.6 million, a jump over the $799,000 during the third quarter of 2005. During the quarter they also recorded a profit of $305,000, a turnaround from the loss of $6.8 million dollars. At least part of the profit was due to the settlement of some liabilities related to Smart-Automobile LLC.
