AAA offers hybrid driving course in California

Although the tips are mostly common sense, AAA in California has a driving course designed just for hybrid vehicles and drivers. There's an hour of classroom instruction, then the students hit the track with an instructor. There are six "tips or tricks" that the course emphasizes. Awareness of the battery level is key to the electric motor kicking in ahead of the gas engine and saving fuel. Other tips include using regenerative braking, getting up to speed quickly, maintaining proper tire pressure, using cruise control and going easy on the air conditioning.
