Toyota wins first Gold Award for Green 4x4s

4x4 & MPV Driver magazine announced that Toyota Motor Corp. and its luxury brand Lexus have won its first Gold Award for Green 4x4s. The award was given in recognition to the automaker's environmental support through technological innovations of its vehicles. States magazine editor Bob Murray, "Manufacturers of 4x4s come no cleaner, greener or smarter than Toyota and Lexus, winners of our inaugural Green 4x4 Gold Award. The world's most successful car maker has been consistently at the forefront of new environmental automotive technologies for decades, often using 4x4s to take that technology out of the laboratory and on to the road."

The Lexus RX 400h with its hybrid engine and the Toyota RAV4 T180 and its 2.2-litre D-4D engine using D-CAT technology illustrated both low emissions without compromising power. The D-4D, in particular, at 175bph is one of the most powerful engines in its segment according to 4x4 & MPV.
