Ford Focus-based SUV for Europe?

/

It's a sktechy translation, but we're diggin' it anyway... there's a rumor around some European blogs that Ford is working on a compact SUV based on the Focus for the European market. Set directly in its sights will be the Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4, so we highly doubt it will appear here unless the Escape grows in size significantly with the next generation. Also, the Focus will most likely be the first Ford-branded vehicle to be sold in the U.S. on the company's C1 platform, which also underpins the Volvo S40, Mazda3 and Euro-spec Ford Focus.

This five-door, five-seat mini-SUV is expected to sport optional four-wheel drive if our interpretation of the translation is correct, and should hit European showrooms in 2008.
