Toyota developing new biodiesel

While there's been much in the media about General Motors efforts to promote E85, very little has been heard about Toyota's own research into biofuel. The second largest automaker, along with Nippon Oil, has reportedly developed biodiesel from palm oil. The partners have developed a method of removing oxygen from the biodiesel using hydrogen during the refining procedure to increase its energy effectiveness. Nippon Oil plans to make the new fuel available for commercial use within four years.
