Audi ends maintenance

Free maintenance, that is.
Audi of America will end the four-year/50,000 mile “Audi Advantage” starting with all 2007 model year vehicles . Originally established back in the Eighties to attract consumer interest in the brand (especially after all the quality issues), the Volkswagen-owned luxury marque cites rising cost for its discontinuation.

There is, however, some risk dropping the program. While few automakers offer free maintenance, one of them that does is BMW, Audi’s major rival. (Mercedes-Benz ended its free maintenance program two years ago.) Many dealers are upset with the news though Audi, interestingly enough, states the change will help increase dealer margins.
