NASCAR: Budweiser Shootout
Kicking off NASCAR's season-opening festivities at Daytona International Speedway, the Bud Shootout is a unique 70-lap event, divided into two segments of 20 and 50 laps, separated by a 10 minute break for setup adjustments. Twenty-one cars will race for a purse of nearly $1.1 million. Ken Schrader (right), driving the 21 Ford Fusion for Wood Brothers Racing, will start on the pole.

As you might expect, there's wall-to-wall TV coverage for the return to NASCAR Nextel Cup racing, but the actual race is on TNT Saturday, Feb. 11, 8-10 pm ET. Web coverage at nascar.com.

More after the jump. NHRA: CARQUEST Auto Parts NHRA Winternationals
The 2006 NHRA Powerade drag racing series kicks off in Pomona, California this weekend. Funny car legend John Force topped the charts in the first round of qualifying, with a 4.742 at 326.63 mph. TV coverage is on ESPN2, Sunday Feb. 12, at 7:30pm ET. Web coverage at nhra.com.

A1GP: Sentul, Indonesia
The World Cup of Motor Racing is at Sentul, Indonesia this weekend, for the eighth leg of the 2005-2006 series. After an eventful race on the streets of Durban, South Africa last weekend, the series hopes to put in another solid event this week. So far, practice has been marred by torrential rain. TV coverage in North America will be via OLN, next weekend. (Now that they have the letterbox format right, OLN's broadcasts are much improved!) If you can't wait, check the series website.
