Mercedes offers MP3 compatibility for the rest of us



I'll admit it -- I don't have an iPod.  I have a Creative Zen Micro, and I'm proud of it. It's Napster-to-Go compatible, is what I consider to be a much more intuitive interface (let the flames begin), and it generally appeals to the part of me that is annoyed at how difficult it is to use a service other than iTunes if you have an iPod -- or at least how difficult I perceive it to be. And it irritates me to no end that everybody is coming out with "iPod compatible this" and "iPod compatible that" with absolutely no consideration for iPod competitors. What about the rest of us who don't use iPods on principle?

Mercedes feels our pain, and that's why the company is putting a PCMCIA slot into the 2007 S-Class, according to Engadget. With the appropriate adapter, Apple-phobic technophiles can play in the sandbox too with whatever storage media they're into. And we only have to pay $14.95 a month for as many songs as we want. Assuming we can afford the S-Class, that is...
