James Bond's Aston-Martin DB5 up for sale this January

/

When a movie or television car comes up for auction, it's usually something of questionable taste and import -- one of the 53 GMC vans used in the taping of the A-Team's second season, or an engineless static model from Judge Dredd, say. But Phoenix's RM Auctions will put something altogether tastier on the block next month. Aston. James Bond's Aston. One of four DB5s used in Thunderball and Goldfinger, to be precise.

All of the expected gadgets are present, including passenger ejector seat, oil slick sprayer, radar scanner, rotating licence plate holder, and... wait for it -- .30 caliber Browning machine guns up front. Curiously, no mention of any cup...errr.. martini holders.

The expected selling price is estimated to be well into the (00)7 digits... between $1.5 and $2.5 million.

Among other lots of interest: Al Capone's bulletproof 1928 Cadillac Town Sedan (featuring a lowering rear window for rearward incendiary fire) and Hank Williams Jr.'s 1964 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible, replete with tasteful modifications including a saddle, pistols, rifles and silver-dollar coins.  Pimp Mah Ride, Ya'll!

The long and short of it: whether you're a martini or a moonshine aficionado, RM's got you covered on January 20th.
