Pickup sales plummet

They're the last bastion of American superiority in the U.S. marketplace, and they took a big hit in October. Pickup trucks, which had so far escaped the woes experienced by SUVs late this summer, dropped 31.8 percent last month over the same period last year, according to Automotive News.

The question analysts are trying to answer now is this: is this the future of the segment, or is it a short-term dropoff in sales resulting from employee pricing discounts offered throughout the summer?
