A diesel Land Rover for the US -- could it be true?

Clean diesel, considered by most Americans to be an oxymoron, might make an appearance in some Land Rovers and other PAG vehicles as early as 2008. Slated to appear in Europe starting in March of 2006, a new 3.6L V8 will first be fitted into the Range Rover, and by 2008, a revamped 3.0L version of the current 2.7L TDV6 will find its way into a slew of other PAG vehicles. The TDV6 is US-ready, and eagle-eyed mule spotters have already seen some LR3s tooling around the States.

Like many diesel offerings, Land Rover's pushing torque — the 3.6L V8 boasts 250 hp and 400 lb./ft. of torque.
