Fiat pins revival hopes on new Punto

Launching this week in preparation for its premiere at the Frankfurt Auto Show, Fiat's new Grande Punto is leading the charge to financial recovery for the Italian automaker.
According to this AP article, the company hopes to sell 360,000 units in 2006, half of them in Italy. Perhaps offering a clue as to its lack of profitability, the company announced that the $13,900 car will be offered with seven different engines, five gearbox options, and 35 interior color schemes.

A dedicated website for the car has gone live, but the English version is still under construction. More info here.
