GM Europe design center takes global role

GM's Opel headquarters in Russelheim, Germany will become the new design center for GM Europe. The new design center will be responsible for the R&D of the global platforms Epsilon and Delta, midsize and compact respectively. Say goodbye to the Greek platform designations as well. The Greek names will go away, but hopefully brand identities won't. The new design center will be responsible for Saturn and Saab, as well as Opel/Vauxhall. GM is confident that the resulting consolidation won't lead to 'badge engineering', but old habits are hard to break. At least they are sticking to their plan to bring Opel/Vauxhall vehicles over to the US as Saturns, a type of 'badge engineering' we can get behind.
