Ford names Aston Martin design director

Ford has named Marek Reichman as Aston Martin's new director of design. Reichman, 39, joins Aston Martin from Ford North America where he was Director of Design for Product, Interior Design Strategy and Process and led the development of interior design, strategy and execution for future Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles. His first assignment with Ford was in 1999 as Chief Designer for Ford and Lincoln Mercury brands. He led development of many Ford concept vehicles including the Lincoln Continental, Lincoln Mark X, Mercury Messenger, and Ford Fairlane.

Reichman started his career in design with Rover Group in 1991. In 1995, he moved to DesignworksUSA in California to become Senior Designer and helped create the design direction for Land Rover. Out of this work came the redesigned Range Rover, which also seems to influence his latest concept, the Ford Fairlane.
